Valentine’s Day is, in my opinion, an overrated holiday. Don’t get me wrong; I love the idea of flowers and chocolates, but who says it has to be limited to just one day a year? I would prefer those surprises on a random day that will catch me off guard. With that said, I still like observing it and getting caught up in the magic. This year I am especially excited because I get to celebrate the holiday with one of my very best friends. Can you think of anything better than an Italian dinner with an old friend?

To revel in all things Valentine's Day, I wanted to list some fashion at Forever 21 I’m currently obsessing over, that you can rock on the special day, or all week if you can't decide which you like the most, like me.

**At the Office**

If are looking to bring a little Valentine’s spirit into the office but still want to look chic and professional, this outfit is perfect! It is a great choice as well if you are planning on going right from work to your night’s affairs. Wear a blazer and flats to work during the day if your office is a bit more formal and then change into your heels once the workday is over!

![](https://cdn.promocodes.com/img/upload/VDayFashion1.png)

_Pink Lace Peplum Top_ ($17.80) and _Pleated Trousers_ ($19.80)

Total: Under $40.

I don’t mind wearing pants every now and then, but I prefer dresses and skirts. Luckily, LA weather is kind to me, so I rarely have to worry about being cold. This skirt and button-up combination is simple but has the perfect touch of femininity for my taste. It also lends well to layering, so if the office is cold, I will have no problem adding to my ensemble. This skirt can be paired with a variety of shirts, but if you already own a button up, then your look will be complete. I also like this _Lace Paneled Top,_ pictured on the rifght, with the skirt. Pair it with a pair of flats, and you will have a comfortable but stylish outfit.

![](https://cdn.promocodes.com/img/upload/VDayFashion2.png)

_Enchanting Eyelet Skater Skirt_ ($19.80) and _Essential Lace Paneled Top_ ($19.80)

Total: Under $40 (If you pair it with a top you already have, you will spend less than $20!)

**Out on the Town**

As I mentioned before, one of my oldest friends is visiting Valentine’s weekend, so my roommate and I are taking her out to a “romantic” Italian dinner and then showing her what Santa Monica has to offer. Since it’s a special occasion I wanted to get a bit dressed up, and I instantly fell in love with this dress. It is not overly complicated or fancy, so it makes the perfect “dinner date with friends” outfit. Pair it with this _Faux Pearl Statement Necklace_ or these _Stacked Heart Bangles, _and it is sure to impress.

![](https://cdn.promocodes.com/img/upload/VDayFashion3.png)

_Luxe Lover Faux Pearl Necklace_ ($14.80), _Chiffon Lace Dress_ ($24.90), _Stacked Heart Bangles_ ($5.80)

Total: Under $46

**At Home on the Couch**

If you would rather [stay at home and relax on the couch](https://www.promocodes.com/netflix-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=pretty-in-pink-valentines-fashion-at-forever-21) instead of going out, I wouldn’t blame you one bit. Personally, I like a good night in, so catching up on your favorite movies or TV shows or hanging out with your boyfriend or friends sounds just as appealing as a dinner out. Just because you are staying in though doesn’t mean Valentine’s Day has to be completely forgotten. Go for something simple, like this _Love Sleep Shirt_ with a pair of yoga pants or [leggings](https://www.promocodes.com/modcloth-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=pretty-in-pink-valentines-fashion-at-forever-21) and call it a night. There is no reason you have to spend extra money going out if you don’t want to because in reality, it is just another Friday night.

![](https://cdn.promocodes.com/img/upload/VDayFashion4.png)

_French Sweet Sleep Shirt_ ($14.90) and _Black Ankle-Length Leggings_ ($3.80)

Total: Under $19

Whatever you decide to do, I hope that you have a wonderful Valentine’s week and especially a wonderful Valentine’s Day!

Pretty in Pink: Valentine's Fashion at Forever 21

To revel in all things Valentine, I wanted to list some fashion at Forever 21 I’m currently obsessing over.

Valentine's Fashion at Forever 21

I recently sat down with Santa Monica based podiatrist Dr. Steven Rosenberg and received advice on how people can save their feet while they shop this holiday season. With Black Friday only two days away, I thought I would share what he had to say.

I know you’re probably more concerned with picking out the perfect outfit for Thanksgiving dinner that’ll allow you to gorge the most amount of food possible than you are currently with picking out a Black Friday outfit. Still, planned-out attire can make the difference between being a Black Friday deal diva and … well, not being one.

I’m sure many of you are just like me. We step out the door without giving a second thought about the shoes we are. But it’s a thought we should give. Sometimes, when wearing improper shoes, we’re left with [burning feet](https://www.promocodes.com/coupons/foot-health?ref=blog&ref_post=black-friday-footwear), sore body parts and a bad attitude. That is certainly no way to go about the holidays.

When I sat down with Dr. Rosenberg, he had some really good, easy and inexpensive ideas. He suggested bringing along a change of shoes—like [a pair of sneakers](https://www.promocodes.com/coupons/athletic-shoes-and-sneakers?ref=blog&ref_post=black-friday-footwear)—so that you can switch when your feet get sore. Since Black Friday weekend is a long, dragging heap of shopping madness, it’s important to prep for long-distance walking. You can also add some inserts into your shoes to provide additional support and cushion. He gave me a pair of his patented Instant Arches, available at Shoes.com and [FootSmart](https://www.promocodes.com/footsmart-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=black-friday-footwear), which definitely felt great.

In the spirit of giving, I thought I’d share some of my favorite shoes for every holiday occasion, whether you’re out shopping or getting ready for the party of the year. When substituting style for comfort is not an option, there are ways to keep your feet healthy (and fashionable) all day long.

These are a few of my current obsessions, available at [Bloomingdales](https://www.promocodes.com/bloomingdales-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=black-friday-footwear) and [Macys](https://www.promocodes.com/macys-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=black-friday-footwear):

![](https://cdn.promocodes.com/img/upload/Shoess1.png)

The winter calls for boots. I like to throw on my [UGGs](https://www.promocodes.com/ugg-australia-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=black-friday-footwear) when I go shopping or walking around on a cold night. They keep my feet warm and comfortable. When I’m in the mood to dress up, I grab my [Frye boots](https://www.promocodes.com/the-frye-company-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=black-friday-footwear)—which deliver on every level and help me stand out in a group.

![](https://cdn.promocodes.com/img/upload/Shoess2.png)

Right now, I’m also _loving_ these new [Asics](https://www.promocodes.com/asics-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=black-friday-footwear) because they make a statement, but provide comfort when I’m walking for extended periods of time.

![](https://cdn.promocodes.com/img/upload/Shoess3.png)

Of course, I can’t forget about those shoes made special for this time of year. I always lean toward cheetah, which is why these Jessica Simpson Mary Jane’s are a must-have.

Aside from discussing ways to save our feet this holiday, Dr. Rosenberg and I also talked about some great home remedies to help those tired feet after long days of searching for the perfect gifts. My personal favorite was getting a [foot massage](https://www.promocodes.com/coupons/massage-and-relaxation-products?ref=blog&ref_post=black-friday-footwear) to loosen up those tight and sore muscles, but unfortunately, not everyone has a professional foot masseuse at home. But there are other solutions: Try stretching your feet by pointing and flexing, just to stretch everything out. You can also run a warm or cold bath, depending on the weather, and soak your feet for a bit. The last suggestion he gave was to put on a fuzzy pair of slippers or socks and let your feet completely relax. These slippers, also from [Macys](https://www.promocodes.com/macys-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=black-friday-footwear), are perfect!

9 Unusual Gifts

The countdown to Black Friday savings is on, and this year, retailers such as [Macy's](https://www.promocodes.com/macys-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=the-hidden-money-dangers-of-black-friday), [Walmart](https://www.promocodes.com/walmart-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=the-hidden-money-dangers-of-black-friday), [JCPenney](https://www.promocodes.com/jcpenney-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=the-hidden-money-dangers-of-black-friday) and [Best Buy](https://www.promocodes.com/best-buy-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=the-hidden-money-dangers-of-black-friday) are starting their sales early, opening doors on Thanksgiving night.

But last year in the time period of October to December, credit card debt rose by $20.7 billion. While Black Friday is a great opportunity to save, there are money dangers to keep in mind.

**1\. Gift card incentives:** This can be a great savings incentive, when used correctly. For example, if you were already planning to buy the iPad Mini, [Target](https://www.promocodes.com/target-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=the-hidden-money-dangers-of-black-friday) is offering a $75 gift card and [Walmart](https://www.promocodes.com/walmart-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=the-hidden-money-dangers-of-black-friday) is offering a $100 gift card with purchase. Love this incentive; however, it's something they will only allow you to apply to future purchases. So go ahead and buy your iPad Mini if it's in your holiday budget; but hold off on the rest of your purchases until you're able to apply the gift card.

**2\. [Electronic accessories](https://www.promocodes.com/coupons/electronic-accessories?ref=blog&ref_post=the-hidden-money-dangers-of-black-friday):** Scoring a great deal on that Apple product, or television, or video game console you've been eyeing for quite some time is always exciting. But the money traps abound once you've decided on your electronics purchase. HDMI cables, phone chargers and all those extras you'll buy to support your electronics purchase will quickly break the bank. Hold off on purchasing these items until you shop around online. For example, a Samsung Galaxy car charger will cost you $30 in-store; you can easily find one online for under $10.

**3\. [Impulse purchases](https://www.promocodes.com/blog/7-habits-of-highly-effective-frugalists):** Well of course you need that [video game](https://www.promocodes.com/gamefly-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=the-hidden-money-dangers-of-black-friday) that's $20 off its regular price, right? Wrong! Don't get caught up in purchasing items simply because they are on sale. If it wasn't on your list, you should walk away. A great question to ask yourself is, "Is this a need, or a want?" If it's a want, hold off until your budget can better support your purchase.

**4\. Some things are worth the wait:** Not everything is a great buy on Black Friday. For example, the [deepest discounts on toys](https://www.promocodes.com/coupons/toys-and-games?ref=blog&ref_post=the-hidden-money-dangers-of-black-friday) generally happen in December.

**5\. Credit cards:** _Always_ plan your budget before you head out to the sales, and make sure you pay in cash, or that you have the cash set aside to immediately pay off your credit cards. While sale prices make it hard to resist shopping, you're not saving money if you end up accruing credit card interest rates over subsequent months.

_Have you found yourself overspending on Black Friday? What are your favorite ways to save?_

The Hidden Money Dangers of Black Friday

You cant shop during Black Friday without consulting these tips and tricks! Here are just a few things you need to know if you want to avoid overspending during this holiday shopping event.

At Promocodes.com we recently had a survey conducted online by Harris Interactive among over 2,000 U.S. adults, to determine how Americans shop on Black Friday. The results are in and they are shocking: 32 million Americans have reported skipping Thanksgiving dinner, rushing through it or starting early, or not traveling to a relative’s house in order to participate in [Black Friday sales](https://www.promocodes.com/coupons/black-friday?ref=blog&ref_post=black-friday-on-thanksgiving). Talk about serious bargain hunters!

The survey also suggests that one-quarter (26%) of Americans never miss or usually hit at least one store on Black Friday. Likewise, one quarter (25%) never miss or usually shop at least one _online_ store on Black Friday. Shopping online is clearly catching on as just two in five Americans (39%) say they have never shopped online on a Black Friday.

![](https://cdn.promocodes.com/img/upload/black-friday-infographic-v4.png)

This year will be a record-breaking year in terms of Black Friday weekend shopping as many major retailers like [Macy’s](https://www.promocodes.com/macys-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=black-friday-on-thanksgiving), [JCPenney](https://www.promocodes.com/jcpenney-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=black-friday-on-thanksgiving), [Walmart](https://www.promocodes.com/walmart-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=black-friday-on-thanksgiving), and [Sears](https://www.promocodes.com/sears-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=black-friday-on-thanksgiving) will even open their doors on Thanksgiving night to give shoppers even more time to spend money. Similarly, [Kohl’s](https://www.promocodes.com/kohls-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=black-friday-on-thanksgiving) started its Black Friday sales online last year in the days before Thanksgiving and we can expect others to do the same this year.

According to the National Retail Federation, the average holiday shopper will spend $737.95 on [gifts](https://www.promocodes.com/gifts-com-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=black-friday-on-thanksgiving), [home décor](https://www.promocodes.com/cost-plus-world-market-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=black-friday-on-thanksgiving), [greeting cards](https://www.promocodes.com/current-catalog-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=black-friday-on-thanksgiving) and more, two percent less than they actually spent last year, so could this be the reason retailers are extending hours and offering deals all week long?

As the biggest retail event of the year continues to grow, it’s important for shoppers to remember that they can stay home and enjoy time off with their families (isn’t that what Thanksgiving is supposed to be about?), while still [being a savvy consumer](https://www.promocodes.com/blog/7-habits-of-highly-effective-frugalists) and getting holiday presents at a discount. How you ask? Research the sales in advance and do all of your shopping online. You’ll save more money, avoid impulse buying and never have to change out of your slippers.

Here are a few tips to ensure your online shopping is as successful as possible:

* Don’t pay for shipping. Most sites will offer free shipping on all orders or with a spending minimum, so try to shop those sites.
* Make a list and stick to it. Impulse buying isn’t as common online, but if you make a list of presents you need and stick to it, then you’ll save money.
* If a website doesn’t have a brick and mortar version of their store, then wait until Cyber Monday to make a purchase as the deals will be even better!

_Happy Turkey Day and Happy Shopping!_

Will You Skip the Turkey and Head to the Mall This Thanksgiving?

32 million Americans have reported skipping Thanksgiving dinner or rushing through it in order to get a head-start on Black Friday sales. Not to mention, 1/4 of Americans never miss out on at least one store on Black Friday - talk about serious bargain hunters!

It’s a warzone out there. People are plotting and scheming and devising their Black Friday strategies. And retailers are doing the same. For the first time in history, stores are opening their doors on the day before, while families blissfully bite into turkeys, cranberries and pie.

And they know it’s going to be a battleground. Up 16 percent from last year, shoppers are planning to hit the web instead of their local mall—46 percent to be exact. Safe from the droves of deal-hungry shoppers clawing their way to victory, this is indeed the safest way to shop as the curtains open up, as noted by the first tip in this list:

**1\. Shop Online**

Black Friday is synonymous with brick-and-mortar madhouses, but this year, it’s in your best interest to do your shopping online. Many stores are featuring [doorbuster deals](https://www.promocodes.com/blog/28-black-friday-deals-to-anticipate) as early as Thanksgiving, right when the clock strikes 12:00 a.m. Some of these include [Dick’s Sporting Goods](https://www.promocodes.com/dicks-sporting-goods-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=9-ways-to-win-on-black-friday), [JCPenney](https://www.promocodes.com/jcpenney-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=9-ways-to-win-on-black-friday) and [Office Depot and OfficeMax](https://www.promocodes.com/office-depot-and-officemax-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=9-ways-to-win-on-black-friday). If you’re too war-weary—perhaps you’ve participated in too many Black Fridays—shopping online is the way to go.

**2\. Arm Yourself with Apps**

The promocodes.com Coupon App will have you comparing prices, browsing deals when you enter a store’s page, and generally kicking butt when it comes to saving on Black Friday. But there are others.

**3\. Go Early**

As you already know, this year it’s Black Thursday. Drop the fork and hit the stores. They say the early bird gets the worm, and never before has that idiom been more relevant. “But Noah, what stores are opening on Black Thursday?” I’m so glad you asked:

**4\. Take Black Friday ads with you**

Yes—take them to the store. It’s imperative that you do this. Everyone needs a reference while they shop. Stores will be willing to price-match. The big guys—[Target](https://www.promocodes.com/target-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=9-ways-to-win-on-black-friday), [Walmart](https://www.promocodes.com/walmart-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=9-ways-to-win-on-black-friday) and [Best Buy](https://www.promocodes.com/best-buy-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=9-ways-to-win-on-black-friday)—promise to [price match](https://www.promocodes.com/blog/stores-that-price-match-online).

**5\. Haggle**

Don’t feel bad. Haggling has been a tool since humans learned to commerce. Also, 43 percent of people say they’ll try to haggle at some point during the holiday season. It’s best to haggle at small, independent stores because they usually can’t match up to the big names in retail. It’s never a bad thing to ask. Things to keep in mind: talk to managers, as salespeople generally don’t wield the power to knock down the prices; and don’t be afraid to walk away.

**6\. Sign up for store credit cards**

Unless you already have one. Signing up for a store credit card on Black Friday can get you up to 30 percent off in some cases. Once you make that initial buy, there’s never a need to use your credit card ever again. Use it for this special occasion, which usually comprises the bulk of your year’s discretionary buys.

**7\. Go electronic**

Black Friday is renowned for its deals on electronics. Never will you see better deals offered during the year. It’s the one day (or four days) when you should mark off your electronic wish list, because the prices are the best all year.

**8\. Keep the gift receipt**

We all make mistakes. This is to be expected. In the hustle and bustle of the Black Friday marathon, you’re going to want to remember this piece of advice, as usually there are one or two recipients who won’t fit into those socks, won’t dig the iPhone, or won’t fly that kite. Keep the gift receipt.

**9\. Keep an eye out for the renegades**

Some stores will be offering Black Friday-worthy deals a week in advance. [Tommy Hilfiger](https://www.promocodes.com/tommy-hilfiger-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=9-ways-to-win-on-black-friday), for example, is blessing us with 30% off sweaters until the 26th. [Restaurant.com](https://www.promocodes.com/restaurant-com-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=9-ways-to-win-on-black-friday) is offering $25 gift certificates for only $6 until the 26th. And [Kate Spade](https://www.promocodes.com/kate-spade-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=9-ways-to-win-on-black-friday) is giving us a site-wide 25% off discount until the 24th. As always, you should keep an eye out for renegades to avoid the mass droves of crazy-eyed shoppers come the 28th.

9 Ways to Win on Black Friday

With Black Friday only two weeks away, you have to be prepared! It's going to be a warzone out there, and you'll have to follow these 9 tips to ensure that you win the day!

Thanksgiving is rapidly approaching and soon we will be knee-deep in all things _holiday_. Amidst the hustle and bustle of shopping for the perfect gifts, now is the perfect time to celebrate everything and everyone you are thankful for. No matter where you are, there are so many activities to participate in this time of the year, allowing you to embrace the season and bond with your loved ones. Here are some of my favorite ways to celebrate the holiday season.

**Get active.** Whether it’s gathering the gang and hitting the local park, or hunting for the perfect Christmas tree, unplugging from technology and getting out is a liberating feeling. You can keep your feet happy with [Shiekh](https://www.promocodes.com/shiekh-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=4-different-ways-to-celebrate-the-holidays), which features shoes for every type of weather, along with ideal picks for every member of the family.

![](https://cdn.promocodes.com/img/upload/Shiekh1.png)

**Show and tell.** One of my absolute favorite things to do around Christmas is see a show—whether it’s local theater or Broadway, doesn’t matter. I had the luxury of being close to NYC growing up, so my family started the tradition of seeing a Broadway show every year. Thankfully, we’ve stuck with it.

Score Big and [CheapTickets](https://www.promocodes.com/cheaptickets-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=4-different-ways-to-celebrate-the-holidays) offer discounted shows to a variety of events that everyone can enjoy. Whether you’re meeting with your friends or your family, the holiday season presents a great opportunity to see something new (as well as take a break from droves of holiday shoppers). It’s not only enjoyable, it’s educational.

![](https://cdn.promocodes.com/img/upload/Shiekh2.png)

**Throw a party.** As previously mentioned, the holidays are about celebrating everything you appreciate in life. Throwing a party will bring everyone together under one roof. The possibilities are endless; my two favorite options are hosting an ugly sweater party or a high-end fancy party. The [ugly sweater](https://www.promocodes.com/ugly-christmas-sweater-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=4-different-ways-to-celebrate-the-holidays) party is rife for photo ops and contests for who has the ugliest. A classy holiday party, on the other hand, is an opportunity for everyone to dress nice and bring their favorite dishes, potluck style. Both options are fun for people of all ages and will create lasting memories and hopefully traditions.

Whether you’re the host or the guest, these products from [Kohl’s](https://www.promocodes.com/kohls-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=4-different-ways-to-celebrate-the-holidays) are festive and cute, and they will make the party more endearing to all.

![](https://cdn.promocodes.com/img/upload/Shiekh3.png)

**Craft it!** For me, decorating is the most exciting part of Christmas because I can transform the ordinary into a winter wonderland. If it’s too cold outside, I can take a little time to knock those projects off my Pinterest boards. [JoAnn](https://www.promocodes.com/joann-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=4-different-ways-to-celebrate-the-holidays), in fact, is one of the premier stores to gather the fixings to create a holiday masterpiece. From Christmas trees in mason jars to homemade ornaments, you have the ability to make something that can live on year after year. Not only will you have fun making crafts withwhomever joins you, you’ll also have homemade gifts to give. Therefore, you save money and have fun at the same time.

Black Friday is a mere 17 days away. Notoriously increased shopping levels will result in the heaviest players in retail unveiling the hottest prices all year. As luck would have it, some of them released ads as recently as yesterday detailing which products and categories will feature massive discounts and sales.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the biggest names in retail and their ridiculously insane doorbusters.

Walmart is no different. Slated to feature a one-hour stock guarantee on 21 of the most popular items, Walmart will give customers a Guarantee Card, assuring them their coveted products will be available at their neighborhood store before Christmas Day.

Remember—they’re opening doors early this year, so abandon the dinner table early (kidding) and revel in the savings. Look for Black Friday deals like these and many more on the pages of [promocodes.com](https://www.promocodes.com/?ref=blog&ref_post=28-black-friday-deals-to-anticipate).

28 Black Friday Deals to Anticipate

We have the inside scoop on all of the leaked Black Friday deals from your favorite stores! Want to know which stores to skip this season and which to hit first? Click here to check out all of the deals and discounts from Sears, Kmart, Target, Walmart, Kohl's, Best Buy, and more!

If you plan to skip Thanksgiving dinner this year in order to get to [Black Friday sales](https://www.promocodes.com/coupon-guide/black-friday-shopping-hacks?ref=blog&ref_post=beat-the-black-friday-budget-blues), you may not be alone. According to a survey by promocodes.com, 32 million Americans who have ever shopped Black Friday have reported skipping Thanksgiving dinner, rushing through it or starting early, or not traveling to a relative's house in order to participate in Black Friday sales. But is this really necessary?

Before you ditch the fam to head out to the sales, here are some tricks to navigate your holiday shopping. Hitting the sales can quickly trigger your impulse purchase mentality, so keep these tips in mind before you start shopping.

**1\. Do remember that Black Friday isn't just one day anymore.** More and more retailers are announcing that they will be opening on Thanksgiving day, and [Cyber Monday sales](https://www.promocodes.com/coupon-guide/cyber-monday-tips?ref=blog&ref_post=beat-the-black-friday-budget-blues) online are exceeding Black Friday online sales. The most important thing is to do your research up front for what you need to buy; and then you can track the deals throughout the entire weekend.

**2\. Do use coupon sites to find additional savings.** Anytime you're shopping online, you should look for a promotional code to save. Sites like promocodes.com pull together all the special deals and offers, and have special sections for Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Before you buy, check these sites to find the best savings.

**3\. Do buy [discounted gift cards](https://www.promocodes.com/coupons/gift-cards?ref=blog&ref_post=beat-the-black-friday-budget-blues) now for the merchants you plan to shop.** Aggregator gift card resale sites allow you to buy gift cards at a variety of merchants such as [Macy's](https://www.promocodes.com/macys-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=beat-the-black-friday-budget-blues), [Walmart](https://www.promocodes.com/walmart-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=beat-the-black-friday-budget-blues). For those who know where they plan to do their Black Friday shopping, purchase discounted gift cards in advance and use them as currency.

![](https://cdn.promocodes.com/img/upload/BFrididay.jpg)

**4\. Don't buy anything you need to finance with a credit card.** Consumer credit card debt from October to December of last year increased by 20.7 billion. Even if there's a sale, you're not saving money if you end up paying credit card interest rates. Plan your budget in advance before you get carried away with spending.

**5\. Don't be afraid to ask for a price adjustment.** When you're shopping sales and specials, check the return policy before you buy. But if the store will accept the product as a return, you can always buy at the sale price you see; and if you find it for less elsewhere, either ask for a price adjustment; or return the item at your original place of purchase and buy the item at the better deal rate.

**6\. Don't forget to check your smartphone when shopping in-stores.** By actually going to brick and mortar stores on Black Friday you have an opportunity to see the goods in person. If you’re unsure which laptop to pick, you can actually test it out in stores and see which you like better. Likewise, if you’re shopping for clothes for yourself, you can actually try them on and you might even talk yourself out of it if the fit isn’t right. Plus, some people enjoy the outing with friends and loved ones to hunt for the best deals in the land. But there might be a better deal online.

How to Beat the Black Friday Budget Blues

Before you ditch the family dinner to head out to Black Friday sales, here are some tricks to navigate your holiday shopping. Savvy shoppers should know that hitting the sales can quickly trigger your impulse purchase mentality, so keep these tips in mind before you start shopping.

Can you believe it? It’s almost the holidays again.

It’s a time of celebration—of deep meaning and family appreciation—a time when you scour obsessively for the best deals to avoid blowing your entire holiday budget on what Little Timmy asked from Santa. It’s become cultural dogma to rely on [Black Friday](https://www.promocodes.com/coupons/black-friday?ref=blog&ref_post=7-best-things-to-buy-in-november) and [Cyber Monday](https://www.promocodes.com/coupons/cyber-monday?ref=blog&ref_post=7-best-things-to-buy-in-november) for the most grandiose discounts, but you can spend the month of November finding equally fantastic offers, if you know where to find them.

Savings-conscious shoppers everywhere can count on stores to respond to the supply and demand of merchandise in November, implementing attractive deals all across the retail spectrum. As Halloween passes by and a new slew of festivities loom on the horizon, we’ll be able to find the absolute best prices of the year on the following items:

**Candy**

![](https://cdn.promocodes.com/img/upload/Candy.jpeg)

Candy retailers will see a significant drop in sales due to fleeting clientele post-Halloween. After the 31st, stores with sweets will offer fantastic deals on candy left over. What the kids didn’t take is yours to enjoy. Finally, you can fill your belly guilt-free; well, at least when it comes to the prices. November is also the best time to buy Halloween-related supplies and costumes.

**Dining Furniture**

**![](https://cdn.promocodes.com/img/upload/DiningFurniture.jpg)**

Anticipating holiday get-togethers, stores will try to grab your attention by offering deep discounts on dining room sets and other dining-related décor. Volumes of Editors’ Choice offerings will be on the front page of online retail stores. You might’ve heard January is the best time to buy dining room furniture due to the influx of new styles in February, but November is the best time to buy the highest quality décor for the lowest prices. You can expect to see fabulous deals from [JCPenney](https://www.promocodes.com/jcpenney-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=7-best-things-to-buy-in-november), [Sears](https://www.promocodes.com/sears-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=7-best-things-to-buy-in-november), [Overstock](https://www.promocodes.com/overstock-com-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=7-best-things-to-buy-in-november), [Kohl’s](https://www.promocodes.com/kohls-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=7-best-things-to-buy-in-november), and [Target](https://www.promocodes.com/target-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=7-best-things-to-buy-in-november).

**Cookware**

![](https://cdn.promocodes.com/img/upload/Cookware1.jpg)

Ditto, as you prepare to woo the likes of judgmental in-laws for the big feast, stores will be offering monumental deals on cookware. Autumn brings low prices on cookware in general, but November is known to produce sky-high discounts as the holiday season rears its head. Dinner hosts can rejoice in an extensive variety of sales on cutlery, bakeware, pots, pans, and other [cookware items](https://www.promocodes.com/coupons/cookware?ref=blog&ref_post=7-best-things-to-buy-in-november).

**Wedding Items**

![](https://cdn.promocodes.com/img/upload/WeddingRingss.jpg)

Ever heard of a couple getting married during winter? It just doesn’t happen. November commences the hiatus of the wedding industry, which means it’s high time to buy [wedding dresses](https://www.promocodes.com/tb-dress-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=7-best-things-to-buy-in-november), gowns, and other wedding items. If you plan on getting hitched in the near future—or even the distant future—be proactive and scour outstanding deals on oft-expensive wedding goods. Just don’t tell your boyfriend.

**Electronics**

![](https://cdn.promocodes.com/img/upload/Electronics.jpg)

Two words: Black Friday. Major consumer [electronics stores](https://www.promocodes.com/coupons/electronics-and-cell-phones?ref=blog&ref_post=7-best-things-to-buy-in-november) will be accommodating hoards of deal-hungry shoppers, some opening at midnight as per recent years. Scores of retailers like [Best Buy](https://www.promocodes.com/best-buy-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=7-best-things-to-buy-in-november), [Radio Shack](https://www.promocodes.com/radioshack-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=7-best-things-to-buy-in-november), [Tiger Direct](https://www.promocodes.com/tiger-direct-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=7-best-things-to-buy-in-november), and [Sharper Image](https://www.promocodes.com/sharper-image-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=7-best-things-to-buy-in-november) will be vying for your patronage. Apple Store has consistently offered 5% to 10% off laptops, iPads with free shipping. Authorized retailers of Apple products, fortunately enough, have been known to feature even better deals than Apple Store. Expect MacMall, [Amazon](https://www.promocodes.com/amazon-com-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=7-best-things-to-buy-in-november), and [Best Buy](https://www.promocodes.com/best-buy-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=7-best-things-to-buy-in-november) to double the discounts.

**Christmas Trees**

**![](https://cdn.promocodes.com/img/upload/ChristmasTree.gif)**

The closer Christmas gets, the [cheaper Christmas trees](https://www.promocodes.com/balsam-hill-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=7-best-things-to-buy-in-november) will be, as farms will want to push abject firs off the lot. If you’re looking for the freshest, best trees, you’ll want to hit the tree farm directly after Thanksgiving. Since typically families throw their free in the street, alley or dumpster after Christmas day, a month-long accompaniment of pine smell from late November to late December is your best bet. Further, farms will try to lure people in while malls and shopping centers get all the attention on Black Friday, resulting in lower prices.

**These Foods**

**![](https://cdn.promocodes.com/img/upload/NovemberFoods.bmp)**

_In-season produce:_ Cucumbers, dates, mushrooms, nuts, broccoli, apples, cauliflower, cranberries, greens, Brussels sprouts, leaf lettuce, cabbage, dates

_Non-produce:_ cookies, crackers, candy, turkeys, baking items, Thanksgiving-related foods (i.e. gravy, broth, cornbread mixes, canned pumpkin, stuffing)

7 Best Things to Buy in November

Can you believe it? It’s almost the holidays again. Take a look at the 7 Best Things to Buy in November. It could save you a ton as you prepare for holiday shopping.

There’s nothing better than a cleverly costumed [pet](https://www.promocodes.com/coupons/pets?ref=blog&ref_post=15-hilarious-pet-costumes-for-under-15).

While it should be mandatory for pet owners to dress up their kittens and canines year-round in hilariously awesome attire, I don’t make the rules. But for this Halloween, I vehemently urge you to entertain your friends and family by dressing up your pets in gut-bursting garb.

So, we’ve collected fifteen great [pet costumes](https://www.promocodes.com/coupons/costumes?ref=blog&ref_post=15-hilarious-pet-costumes-for-under-15)—all under $15—featuring the funny, the fantastic, and the frighteningly cute. You’ll find dogs dressed up as fruit, dogs dressed up as superheroes, and dogs assuming the identities of other animals.

![](https://cdn.promocodes.com/img/upload/HCPets.png)

_1\. Superman - $12.99_

_2\. Green Dinosaur Hoodie - $14.99_

_3\. Pet Butterfly - $12.99_

These cute and cuddly costumes come from [HalloweenCostumes.com](https://www.promocodes.com/halloweencostumes-com-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=15-hilarious-pet-costumes-for-under-15). Whether your dog’s a fan of Clark Kent, paleontology, or butterflies, you could easily snag a costume within your limited budget.

![](https://cdn.promocodes.com/img/upload/CKPets.png)

_4\. Dog Bat - $13.95_

_5\. Red Devil - $14.95_

_6\. Tinman - $10.99_

Dressing up like a bat or devil is normally cliché. But if it’s your dog, there’s something undeniably fresh about it. Your dog may also like Alice in Wonderland, in which case, it’s the smarter avenue to opt for a Tinman costume. Likewise, these are all under $15 and available at Costume Kingdom, where you can drop the price even lower by taking advantage of 10% off with code CK10.

![](https://cdn.promocodes.com/img/upload/BCPets.png)

_7\. Prisoner Dog - $9.99_

_8\. Sunflower - $11.99_

_9\. Taco Dog - $14.99_

Via BuyCostumes.com, you could go with dressing your dog up like an inmate—that is, if he’s been exhibiting bad behavior. Do you own a Bichon Frisé, a Pomeranian, or a Pug? The smaller the dog gets, the cuter and cheaper the costume. Go with _Taco Dog_ if your dog enjoys Mexican food, or _Sunflower_ if he tears apart your garden. BuyCostumes.com is currently offering 30 percent off one costume item (code AFC30BCONE), which would drastically reduce the price.

![](https://cdn.promocodes.com/img/upload/CCPets.png)

_10\. Animal Planet Triceratops - $9.23_

_11\. Chiquita Banana Dog - $16.16_

_12\. Lion Dog - $13.85_

The Chiquita Banana costume is a hot seller at Costume Craze, so act fast. You can get 5 percent off orders with code GETFIVE, and opt for something monstrously adorable like the triceratops or something that may take a bit of primping, the lion. Warn your neighborhood you’re dressing up your dog like a lion to avoid calls to the police or lawsuits.

![](https://cdn.promocodes.com/img/upload/SHPets.png)

_13\. Bacon Dog - $16.99_

_14\. Zelda Caveman - $16.99_

_15\. Rasta - $19.99_

These prices hover a little above $15, but with 25 percent off site-wide at [Spirit Halloween](https://www.promocodes.com/spirit-halloween-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=15-hilarious-pet-costumes-for-under-15) (code WALKING), the prices drop within range. While dogs generally avoid wigs like the plague, it’s worth a bit of torture to dress them up like cavemen or Rastafarians. I’m still trying to wrap by head around the bacon costume.

You’d be remiss to abstain from giving your pet a little taste of this celebrated holiday. And we don’t mean candy. All it takes is a little pocket cash and you’ll be laughing all the way to All Hollow’s Eve.

15 Hilarious Pet Costumes for Under $15

Whether your pet is a playful puppy or a curious kitten, your pet is going to look adorable in one of these hilarious costumes. Halloween isn't just a time for their owners to dress up, now your pets can don a matching costume this fall!

[Fall](https://www.promocodes.com/coupons/fall-savings?ref=blog&ref_post=fake-fall-in-4-easy-steps) is a time full of change. The leaves are turning shades of red and orange, the air is getting colder, and clothes are getting heavier. At least in theory that is what is supposed to be happening. I am living vicariously through my friends’ Instagram photos, since here in Santa Monica, it is easy to forget that [October](promocodes.com/blog/8-best-things-to-buy-in-october) ends in just two weeks.

Autumn has always been one of my favorite times of the year, so despite it being warm here, I have still attempted to bring the best of the season into my life, without overspending or over-shopping. Check out my four must-haves to fake fall here:

**Boots**

To me, nothing says fall more than [BOOTS](https://www.promocodes.com/coupons/womens-shoes?ref=blog&ref_post=fake-fall-in-4-easy-steps)! I practically live in them for half of the year. They dress up and dress down, making them the perfect choice for almost every occasion! My new favorite site for shoes is Tilted Sole. They have the cutest shoes and such a great variety! Right now it is all about the boots for me, both short and tall like the ones below, but Tilted Sole also has heels, flats, and sneakers if those are more your style.

![](https://cdn.promocodes.com/img/upload/FakeFall1.png)

**Chai Lattes**

[Tea](https://www.promocodes.com/coupons/tea?ref=blog&ref_post=fake-fall-in-4-easy-steps) is probably my biggest obsession at the moment. As mentioned in my article [5 Ways to Stay Warm in a Cold Office](promocodes.com/blog/5-ways-to-stay-warm-in-a-cold-office), I am always cold at work, so I have picked up the habit of drinking tea…a lot of tea.  I tend to not stray from Green Tea, but lately I have been making Chai Lattes at home to switch things up. If you have never had one, I definitely recommend giving it a try.  It is the perfect drink to wind down after a long day, while you are sitting watching TV or surfing the web, as long as you go decaf. [Teavana](https://www.promocodes.com/teavana-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=fake-fall-in-4-easy-steps) has flavors upon flavors of tea to suit everyone’s taste. These are my favorites of theirs:

**Jackets**

It may not be cold enough to wear jackets on a daily basis, but that doesn’t mean I have to go without. If I am not wearing a chunky sweater than I love adding a blazer or a leather jacket to my outfit. It keeps me warm enough if the wind picks up, but it isn’t so insulated that I am sweating walking to and from work. My Black Friday goal this year is to get a new [leather jacket](https://www.promocodes.com/wilsons-leather-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=fake-fall-in-4-easy-steps). Last year my sister scored an amazing leather jacket at [Macys](https://www.promocodes.com/macys-coupons?ref=blog&ref_post=fake-fall-in-4-easy-steps), so I have tasked her with the same goal this year. For now, my faux leather jacket from Forever 21 is doing a great job!
