Putting the Lids on This Week's Tip Jars: April 11, 2014

HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE! We hope that you all had a wonderful week and are enjoying the warmer weather that is rolling in. It has been a pretty eventful week here in the office, with amazing spring deals and special planning for Mother’s Day. If you haven’t gotten the opportunity to enter our Vera Bradley Giveaway, you have until Sunday to enter! Be sure to check back with us as well for more opportunities in the next few weeks to win amazing gifts!

Courtesy of FTD flowers we bring you “Tulip Talk”. As many of you have probably noticed, your tulips will naturally start bending toward the light when you bring them home. Instead of letting them droop, wrap them in protective wrap while they are hydrating the first 4-5 hours. This will help support them and keep them straight so that they will look beautiful in any room you decide to display them in.

Whether you are a student printing papers or an adult printing for work or home needs, it adds up very quickly. Not only do you have to continue purchasing new boxes of paper, but you also have to replace the ink cartridges, which are not inexpensive. For things that do not have to be printed in high quality, switch your print mode to draft. This will lower the quality and also the ink usage. This way you won’t have to replace your ink as frequently and can save the trip to the store.

Going to the beach or pool is a great summer activity, but it can be tricky when you leave all of your stuff unattended. Instead of taking the gambling and leaving your purse lying out, hide your valuables! Take an old, unsuspecting, sunscreen bottle and clean it out. Then you can store what you want hidden inside of the bottle and disguise them. If people are rummaging through bags sitting on the beach, they probably aren’t going to want to steal a bottle of sunscreen.

Staying in and having a family movie night or game night is a great way to save money and bond. Take your savings a step further by making your own popcorn using a brown paper bag and kernels. All you have to do is pour half a cup in the brown bag and fold the top a few times to make sure that it is fully sealed. Then put it in the microwave for a minute and a half. Once it is fully popped you can as whatever seasoning you want and can enjoy. It is healthier and costs you less money than purchasing store bought bags.

Now that the weather is getting warmer, we are starting to pull out our dresses, shorts, and bathing suits. For most of us, that means that our cellulite is about to be exposed to the rest of the world. Don’t let that hold you back from wearing your favorite outfits! Instead of buying expensive creams to reduce your cellulite’s appearance, use your mornings coffee grounds. Mix together the grounds with a few teaspoons of olive oil and massage into your skin. You will feel your skin tightening up as you do this then just rinse it off. Repeat this as needed!

Have a great weekend savvy savers!
