Work out more, exercise more, get fit--these are some of the most common New Year’s Resolutions, and some of the hardest to keep. Finding the time and the money to hit the gym can be challenging, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t keep up with your goal to get in shape. Here are some ways that you can get moving without breaking the bank.

Make use of the Online Fitness Community

There are a ton of fitness influencers and social media channels these days dedicated to making fitness routines available to a wider audience. You can find videos on Youtube, guides on Pinterest, and a bunch more, all showing you how to work out with just your body or one or two household items.

Shop Smart

If you do want actual equipment, like weights and jump ropes and the like, you can find them for cheaper than you would think. Check stores like Marshalls and TJ Maxx for smaller items like yoga mats, hand weights, and resistance bands, which are all perfect for building your home gym on the cheap.

Get Outside

When we talk about getting fit we often forget the biggest free gym we have--the great outdoors. Even if you’re not a runner or extreme sports player, taking a walk on a local hiking path or even just to the grocery store all adds up when it comes to getting fit.

Search for Coupons

If you really want to use a gym or a similar facility, start looking for deals they may have. Some gyms have special enrollment periods that you can use to save on the membership fees, or they’ll have online coupons for free workout classes that you can use to try different things. If you’re diligent about looking around for the best deals, you can save a lot of money and still get all the perks of a fully equipped gym.
