When it comes to makeup it can get very confusing as to what's really worth your hard earned money.  How do drugstore brand cosmetics stack up to the pricier department store brands?

We've picked out some of our favorite big ticket items and their cheaper counterparts that will get the job done at a fraction of the price!

Eyeshadow

For a creamy, highly pigmented eyeshadow that paints onto your lids creating a standout look, you could spend a lot on Giorgio Armani or opt for L'Oreal Paris.  Both shadows will give you intense color that lasts all night long, but the L'Oreal version is double-sided so you get two shades, for one very low price!

Perfume

Every woman needs a signature scent.  However, that doesn't mean you need to break the bank to find a stunning perfume.  If you're looking to smell like a bouquet of roses you could try Diptyque's Eau Rose Eau de Toilette Spray or Pacifica Persian Rose.  The scents are different;  Diptyque's focuses on the scents a rose takes on from rosebud to full bloom with notes of bergamot, blackcurrant, rose, white musk and cedar to name a few.  With a blend of different rose, subtle violet and a hint of fruit, Pacifica's perfume encompasses the alluring rose scent, the star of early Persian perfume makers as it was a symbol of love and beauty, at a much more wallet friendly price.

A metallic mani is a great way to really give your digits an update!  While Chanel's Cavaliere is a beautiful shade, Essie's slightly brighter Leggy Legend provides another way to get amazing nails without hurting your budget.

However, both M.A.C and L'Oreal Paris have developed beautiful liquid matte lip shades in the least drying formulas we've tried yet!  Add a splash of timeless glamour in highly saturated shades from M.A.C or try L'Oreal Paris' version at less than half the price!
