Putting the Lids on This Week's Tip Jars: June 13, 2014

Happy Friday the 13th everyone!  We hope that you have had a fantastic week and hopefully have some fun plans to celebrate the Dads in your life, no matter who they are! If you haven’t done your shopping yet, be sure to check out our Father’s Day page that is dedicated to all of the best deals happening this weekend. From clothes to electronics to outdoor essentials, we have something for every type of dad out there. Don’t worry though; we have a little something for the women as well. We are currently running a $100 Gift Card Giveaway to Vera Bradley. No one says that you can’t treat yourself and shop for someone else too.

Going on vacation and worrying about your pet is never a fun task nor is it inexpensive. Instead of overspending on a pet-sitter or a boarding facility, set up a pet swap with a friend or a neighbor, so that you can trade vacations and not spend any money. Hopefully since you already know them, your pet has a relationship with them and you won’t have to worry about any problems. You will feel much more comfortable knowing that your pets are happy.

Flying is already expensive enough with the cost of airline tickets; so don’t give yourself more costs when you are traveling. Instead of buying snacks while you are at the airport, bring them along with you. Pretzels, almonds, and chocolates are great alternatives to airport food and are easy to pack in your carry on. Then all you have to grab at the airport is a water bottle or even just drink the free beverage the flight provides. You can stay healthier and save money.

Grilling is a summer favorite, so make sure you are getting the most out of your recipes, especially fish. Next time you are grilling up fish, place the fillet on slices of lemon on the grill. This way your fish will not stick to the grill and fall apart, and the lemon will give your fish a nice flavor.  This will definitely become a quick habit of yours at the grill.

It is always nice to go to a movie or other paid event, but try something new this summer. Volunteering is a great way to try a new experience, meet new people, and help out your community. You will feel great after you have completed it and may even find a new hobby. Check out your local church or community center for the opportunities available in your town.

One of the best parts about summer is the natural hair highlights that come from spending long days outside. If you really want to boost up that color try a little lemon juice mixture. Be careful though if you have professionally treated hair because this can mess with that color. To treat your hair, mix together 1 cup of Warm Water, 3 tsp. of Coconut Oil, 2 tsp. of Lemon Juice, and 1 tsp. of Sea Salt and pour it into a spray bottle. When you are ready to use it, shake it really well and apply to moist hair.

Have a fantastic weekend and Father’s Day!
