Having fun with your significant other doesn't have to break the bank. Though every now and then extravagant dates are fun, why not try a fun, budget-friendly date to have a wonderful time while not overspending. Your wallet will thank you!

At-Home Take on Dinner and a Movie

Reinvent this classic date night in the comfort of your own home. Instead of hitting a restaurant and the movie theater, opt for a hands-on cooking night in your own kitchen and a rented movie or Netflix film. Make a whole afternoon of the date—go to the grocery store and pick up all the ingredients and some beer or wine that you'll need for dinner. Once you've cooked everything and eaten your fill, head to the couch and flip on your movie of choice. Don't forget the popcorn!

Game Night

Round up all the board games you can find and challenge each other to the classics: Scrabble, Settlers of Catan, or Monopoly. Break out some wine or beer, snacks and put on some music as you discover who has the bigger competitive streak while you race to victory in your game of choice.

Discover a New neighborhood

No matter how long you've lived in your particular city or town, there are bound to be areas you've never explored. Pick a new spot, park your car and wander around to discover new restaurants, boutiques or coffee shops. If you live in a more rural town, pick somewhere nearby that you've never been and head there instead—you never know what you may find!

Apple Picking

With fall fast approaching, it's the perfect time to head to a nearby orchard and go apple picking. Enjoy the cooler weather and load up a bag of apples so you can make delicious pastries back at home, or just enjoy the crisp apples on their own. Most orchards also have other attractions, like other fruits and vegetables to pick, hay rides or apples treats like cider donuts or fresh pressed cider. Make this a day-long adventure so you're sure to take in all the sites while you're there.

Gourmet Picnic

Head to your local grocery or specialty store and pack up snackable bites for an afternoon picnic you're your beau. Opts for grapes, crackers and cheese, wine and other finger foods that you can enjoy in a local park or esplanade while you enjoy the sunshine and relax. Plus, a bonus: see if you can schedule your picnic for a night when there’s an outdoor movie or concert happening in the park for an even more exciting evening.
