Friday is FINALLY here! We hope that you all had a fantastic week. It is also finally October, so do you have any fun fall activities planned? Apple/pumpkin picking, football games, or maybe even some DIY projects?! Whatever is on your agenda, please have a safe and wonderful weekend!
Let curtains be your best friend all year round, even if that means you have to switch them up with seasons. In the winter let as much light in during the day that you can, so that your room can naturally heat up without having to blast the heat all day when you are not home. In the summer, do the opposite. By blocking out the hot summer rays, your house can stay cooler instead of letting the rooms bake all day long.
We understand that driving faster gets you to where you need to be earlier, but in addition to the safety concerns speeding raises, you are actually burning more gas too. The California Energy Center confirms that each “5 mph you drive over 60 mph is like paying an additional $0.21 per gallon. Try slowing down the next time you are out driving. Your wallet will thank you!
Flying is always a gamble. Some people find cheap flights the day before they fly and others have to plan months in advance to get the price they want. It has been proven though that Tuesdays and Wednesdays have lower fares an since the weekends are more popular, they are able to raise the prices more. If you are able, try switching up your days of travel and see if you save any money. Check out this USA Today article about it here: http://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/columnist/seaney/2013/01/22/cheapest-airfare-tuesday-wednesday/1856643/
Baby oil has so many great and unusual uses that you may have never heard of before! In addition to using it as a makeup remover, it can also help remove gum off the bottom of your shoe and replace shaving cream for a closer and better shave. Change is never comfortable to carry around whether you are throwing it into your purse or putting it in your pocket. It certainly does add up though. By throwing it into a jar or piggy bank, you can save up for something fun, instead of just losing it. I always like to create “future trip jars” with my loose change or put it in my car for those pesky parking meters. Be creative with your change!
Don't forget to be savings savvy this weekend!
