Putting the Lids on This Week's Tip Jars: January 3, 2014

HAPPY NEW YEAR! We hope that you all got the opportunity to relax this week and unwind after the holiday season. January is one of our favorite months because everyone is reenergized and motivated to have the best year ever! Do you agree? There are definitely a lot of exciting things happening in 2014 here at the PromotionalCodes HQ, and we can’t wait for you to see what is in store! We know that there has been crazy and cold weather across the country the last few days and continuing through the weekend, so please stay safe and warm but also enjoy yourselves in the snow!

Mold is a pesky thing to get rid of, and even after you scrub and scrub sometimes it just decides to stick around. Personally we are trying to stop buying expensive store bought chemicals to clean around the house, and are trying new methods to keep everything looking its best. Hydrogen Peroxide is our go to so far, especially for mold. All you have to do is spray the affected area and let it sit for 10 minutes. When ready, start scrubbing and hopefully you can make it all go away! Not only are you being earth conscious, but you will be saving money because even large bottle are not very expensive!

Going out and trying new restaurants, especially with friends, is always a recipe for a good time, but it can add up and extend your budget. If this is something that you don’t see yourself cutting out of your life, then at least be smart with how you are spending your money! Finding restaurants that let you bring in your own beer and wine can really lower your overall bill because you won’t be paying for overpriced drinks. Try searching for restaurants in your area on Google or Yelp that are BYOB! Save money and try somewhere new!

Boots are the best part of winter and no matter how much they cost, you want to take care of them, so you can keep them for years to come…or at least have them make it through the whole season. Aside from the normal wear and tear, one of the most frustrating parts of owning boots is when them start to scrunch up. Keep your boots standing tall by cutting a pool noodle and placing it inside the tree of your boot! This will also keep your closet more organized because you can line up all of your boots and not worry about them falling over and having stuff pile on top of them.

We understand the appeal of buying speakers for you phone or iPod, but if money is tight, trying using what you have around the house. By placing your phone/iPod into a glass bowl or glass vase, you are able to amplify the sound, making it a homemade speaker system. It won’t replace a full sound system, but it works perfectly for a small room. It will get you through for a bit, while you are trying to save up your money.

After a long day at work, school, or taking care of the kids, who really wants to cook a full meal? Often times we find ourselves giving into craving or ordering out because it is easier than making a healthy meal. It is a new year, so try making your meals ahead of time! If you dedicate one day a week to make all of your meals, you can not only ensure that you are eating better, but you will also have more time to get other things checked off your list after work! You can also follow a budget better if you are planning out your meals in advance.

Have a great weekend!
