Putting the Lids on This Week's Tip Jars: February 7, 2014

Happy Friday Everyone! We hope that you had a wonderful week. We know that much of the country has been stuck in snow, ice, and frigid temperatures for the last week straight. We are thinking about you all and hopefully this awful winter will end soon! There is so much excitement for this weekend: New York Fashion Week, the Olympics in Sochi, and then Valentine’s Day in just one week! Which one are you most excited about? We just can’t decide! Speaking of Valentine’s Day, don’t forget to check out the whole page we have dedicated to make it the best one yet! We have amazing deals on flowers, chocolates, jewelry, and more. Please have a safe and fun weekend!

Music is expensive and with all of the other ways to get it, it can be easy to fall into the pattern of not paying for it, but in the end, that is illegal. Instead of feeling pressured to purchase music when you are running low on cash, download the freebies of the week from iTunes or borrow a friends CD for a bit. If you borrow a CD first, then you can see how much you really like it before buying it yourself. You can also sign up for a free Spotify or Pandora account, and listen to your favorite tunes all day long for free on your computer! You can even stream your accounts to your phone when you are on the go.

We all know that when we get hurt, using a bag of ice is cumbersome and messy. We love those freeze packs, but they get expensive and are also not always readily available. If you are in a pinch or just want to make your own, grab a zip lock bag and add 1 part rubbing alcohol with 3 parts water and place this in the freezer. You will be left with a moldable ice pack that is not only inexpensive, but it is also reusable! Get ready to say goodbye to that bag of ice, which seems to be make more of a mess than anything else.

Cleaning your bathroom, or just your house in general, can be a daunting task, but this amazing trick will leave you with more time and satisfaction at the end of the day! When you decide to clean, either fill your bathtub up about a ¼ or take a hot shower before you start. This will loosen up all of the scum and dirt that has built up and allow for a deeper clean. This trick has saved us so much time, so we promise, if you try it, you won’t want to go back to cleaning any other way.

Try something new the next time you are entertaining a group of people. Instead of buying bowls to hold your dessert or ice cream, make your own! Flip over a muffin pan and mold cookie dough around it and bake! This will leave you with yummy edible bowls, instead of plain ones that are just going to end up thrown away and wasted. Not only are you being innovative and creative, but you are also being environmentally conscience. You can either buy cookie dough in a roll or make it from scratch! Everyone will be impressed.

Sometimes you just can’t avoid someone putting a drink down on your wooden table or your glass sweating on a hot day. If you fall victim to this terrible occurrence, then we have a solution for you! Next time you catch a glass or bowl leaving a nasty ring on your table, grab the mayo from the fridge and some paper towels. Add the mayo to the towels and place it on the stain, pressing down lightly. Leave the towel on the stain for about 15 minutes, and when you remove it, the stain should be completely gone or at the least greatly diminished.
