You spend all the time decorating your tree and stringing the lights for hours, but do you take the time to really enjoy all of your hard work. Energy bills can get especially high this year, with additional decorations and guests visiting, so try to save energy when you can. If your Christmas tree is in a commonly used room, turn off all of the other lights and use the tree as the only source of light. You may be amazed how much light it actually give off, and you can also enjoy how beautiful it looks. You will be saving money and celebrating the holidays at the same time!

We spend so much time in our kitchen, so when the garbage disposal starts smelling, it is definitely noticed. Growing up, we were always told to put ice cubes down the disposal and run it to sharpen the blades and clear it out, but this trick is even better! Lemon has so many uses in the kitchen but this is probably our favorite.  When lemon slices are mixed with vinegar and water and then frozen into cubes, they work as the perfect garbage disposal refreshers. Say goodbye to that stinky fish smell, and hello to a lemony fresh scent!

Sometimes it is fun to just buy a bunch of inexpensive rings to have whenever you want to dress up an outfit, but unfortunately that means green fingers for you. Instead of throwing your rings out when this happens, grab a bottle of clear nail polish and coat the inside of your rings. This way you can keep your inexpensive jewelry instead of throwing them out every few months! In addition to coating your rings, check out this great list of other use for your favorite clear nail polish by Instructables.com.

We understand that the holidays can be very stressful when you have to buy a lot of gifts for people. A great option to save on expenses is to make homemade gifts instead of buying them. There are so many great DIY ideas on Pinterest that will really show your loved ones how much you thought about their gift and how much you care. If you aren’t comfortable just making something, then you can always add something small to their gift that you purchased from a store. Let your creativity shine this time of year!

Bruises are never fun, but the worst part is how long they linger after you hurt yourself. You can go out and buy makeup to cover up the black and blue mark until it fades, or you can try this amazing at home remedy! Next time you hurt yourself, soak a cotton ball in vinegar and apply to your bruise for about an hour. This will enhance the blood flow on the skin surface and dissolve the blood that has accumulated, fading the mark.

Again, have a great weekend everyone! If you want your favorite savings tip featured on one of our Tip Jars, share it below!
